Contraindications | 1. Avoided in gastrointestinal obstruction and myasthenia gravis 2. Closed-angle glaucoma 3. Chronic pulmonary disease 4. Sick sinus syndrome 5. Thyrotoxicosis 6. Tachycardia |
Precautions | 1. Use with caution in cardiovascular disease, hypertension 2. Psychotic disorders,prostatic hypertrophy, pyrexia, in those susceptible to angle-closure glaucoma and in the elderly 3. It should not be withdrawn abruptly in patients receiving long-term treatment. 4. Anmuscarinics are liable to abuse. 5. Elderly males with possible prostate hypertrophy 6. Tardive dyskinesia 7. Neuroleptic malignant syndrome |
Adverse Effects | 1. Constipation 2. Dry mouth 3. Nausea 4. Vomiting 5. Tachycardia 6. Dizziness 7. Confusion 8. Euphoria 9. Hallucinations 10. Impaired memory 11. Anxiety 12. Angle-closure glaucoma may occur very rarely 13. Paralytic ileus 14. Dilation of the colon. |
