2. Including septicemia
3. Pneumonia and meningitis
4. Surgical prophylaxis
5. Prophylaxis of meningococcal meningitis
6. Gonorrhea

Contraindications1. Cephalosporin hypersensitivity
2. Porphyria
3. Neonates with jaundice
4. Hypoalbuminaemia
5. Acidosis or impaired bilirubin binding
Precautions1. Penicillin sensitivity
2. Severe renal impairment
3. Hepatic impairment if accompanied by renal impairment
4. Premature neonates
5. May displace bilirubin from serum albumin
6. Renal failure
7. Dehydration or concomitant total parenteral
nutrition-risk of ceftriaxone precipitation in
the gallbladder
8. Lactation
9. Pregnancy

Adverse Effects1. Diarrhoea
2. Nausea and vomiting
3. Abdominal discomfort
4. Headache
5. antibiotic-associated colitis
6. allergic reactions including rashes, pruritus,
urticaria
7. Serum sickness-like reactions
8. Fever and arthralgia and anaphylaxis
9. Erythema multiforme
10. Toxic epidermal necrolysis reported
11. Hypersensitivity
