Contraindications1. Severe renal disease and hepatic disease
2. Jaundice caused by biliary-tract obstruction
3. Impaired absorption due to acute gastrointestinal disorders
Precautions1. Hypersensitivity to iodine-containing compounds or other contrast media
2. Severe hyperthyroidism
3. Hyperuricaemia or cholangitis
4. May interfere with thyroid-
function tests
Adverse Effects1. Nausea and vomiting
2. Abdominal pain and
diarrhoea
3. Mild stinging on micturition
4. Rashes and flushing
