HIMALAYAN PHARMACY INSTITUTE, EAST SIKKIM

Himalayan Pharmacy Institute is the pioneer institution conducting Pharmacy courses in the State of Sikkim. It is an independent, co-educational and self financed institution offering Diploma, Undergraduate, Post graduate and Doctor of Philisophy (PhD) pharmacy programmes. The Institute is situated in Majitar, along the side of the NH 10, 4kms ahead of Rangpo, the border town of West Bengal and Sikkim and 74 kms away from Siliguri, West Bengal. From Majitar 36kms remain towards Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. The nearest Railway station is New Jalpaiguri and the airport is Bagdogra. HPI had a humble beginning way back in 1990 in Fiveways, Deorali with the two year Diploma in Pharmacy course. Owing to the popularity of the diploma course, in 1997 the four year degree course, B. Pharm was started. It was in the year 2000 that the institute was shifted to it’s present location in Majitar. From the new spread-out campus the first batch of B. Pharm graduated in 2001. Thereafter, the Institute reached new heights in 2005, when it started M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics followed by master degree programmes in Pharmacognosy (2007), Pharmacology (2008) and Pharmaceutical Analysis (2012). The Institute reached another milestone in 2017, after starting Doctor of Philisophy (PhD).
