Atropine Ophthalmic (Eye) : Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Pictures,  Warnings & Dosing - WebMD
DoseInstill 1 drop (Atropine Eye Drop) into the eye(s) 40 minutes prior to intended maximal dilation. Maximum dose: 1 drop in each eye twice a day
Contraindications 1. Angle-closure glaucoma
2. Pregnancy
Precautions 1. May precipitate an acute attack of angle-closure glaucoma
2. Risk of systemic effects with
eye drops in infants under 3 months-eye ointments preferred.
Adverse Effects1. Transient stinging and raised intraocular pressure
2. On prolonged administration
3. Local irritation
4. Transient stinging and raised intraocular pressure
5. Hyperaemia
6. Oedema
7. Contact dermatitis
8. Systemic toxicity may occur in the very young and the elderly
